BRB calling my HOA and saying the open burning restriction violates my religious freedom to celebrate the feast of Peter and Paul...

Wonderful stuff Kristin to read in the long evening light in England. Here on the Scottish Border it will not be properly dark for a while yet. A Book for the Hours for sure. There are no bonfires tonight but the wind has been in the West for a few days. The fabled legend of the Thorn goes a long way back, renewed it is said from Glastonbury, even further than St Peter and St Paul.

I'm so glad you enjoyed perusing this, Philip - and my goodness, your setting (the long evening light on the Scottish border!) sounds like poetry. I hope you & yours are enjoying some wonderful Midsummer days...it sounds like the wind is blowing as it should! :)

The legends surrounding the Thorn captivate me. Our Medieval living history museum nearby keeps an icon of St. Joseph of Arimathea, and all his ties to Glastonbury...and then the genesis of the thorn and its offshoots...well, that's a rabbit-hole I surely need to dive down sometime!

This is beautiful, and a timely reminder to me of our true home (since Nick and I are currently looking for an apartment and are staying with friends). Thank you!
