Memorable quote: "Easter is an ongoing, active choice to cling to joy in all its dimensions."

I’m delighted to hear that resonated with you, too :)

Lovely and right on time! Only this week I put up my Easter decorations, repeating to myself “Easter is a season, not a day!” Also, included part of that Berry poem in my Resurrection Sunday sermon.

Oh my goodness, I love that we were twinning with the Wendell Berry poem!

I wrote a comment, then it disappeared!I loved this post so much, the research, the thought... you give so much! And I loved finding out about the goldfinch, and his depictions in paintings of Jesus as a child. Thank you, Kristin!

Thank you so so much dear Mairi! It's always a gift to know these things hit you too. Isn't the goldfinch fascinating?! That bird was one of the gateways into Christian nature symbolism for me, so it always has a big place in my heart. :)

Beautiful, thanks! The goldfinch is one of my favourite birds, there are loads where I live and I love to hear them twittering and blowing raspberries (they do make that noise, really!) as they flit through the trees.

They are such stunning birds! I love that you get to be surrounded by them. Ours (a bit different, the American Goldfinch) haven't shown up yet, but their return is so exciting every single year.

I didn't know they migrate where you are; here they are resident. I love walking through the fields in late summer watching them picking off thistleheads - such clever birds.

They’re truly SO clever and industrious. I think the goldfinches in the southern US are resident, but ours up further north tend to be seasonal. They’re so cheerful!
